August 10 LAST ONE~!!!!!!

I can't believe it's here... I never thought this day
would come.. In 2 different ways.
1.)Because I'm so excited to see all of those whom
    I love!
2.)Because I'm dreading saying goodbye to new
    people whom I love..
MIXED FEELINGS.

This week, we FINALLY found an Investigator.
A solid one, too. She is married to an active
member. Her name is Sister Urey (: She's been
coming to church since forever, and we've been
trying so hard to get in with her.. she just has had
a crazy busy schedule.  But we finally did!
And we have an appointment with her tomorrow
night, at 7:00We'll be teaching her the Restoration (:

In other news..Sister Stolworthy is leaving the
area, as well. We're closing down the area for
Sisters. So, that makes 4 areas in a row I've closed
down. Not sure how I feel about that...  The Lord
has a plan, that's for sure.

I have absolutely loved being a missionary!
I am so thankful for my mission!
I never would have been the person I am
today without it. No doubt about that!
I have come to know my Savior..
I know that He suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane,
I know He died on the cross..for US.
I know that He has been with me every step of the
way for the past 18 months. He has carried me when
I was sure I couldn't take another step.. He has comforted
me when I had no one..
He has changed me.

If there is one thing that I've learned, it's that the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the Lord's
kingdom on earth! We have a Prophet today, Thomas S.
Monson, who receives direct revelation for us!
This is the way! This is the plan!
I know that this gospel is for EVERYONE.
Young, old, black, white, skinny, fat, tall or short...
EVERYONE is invited to come unto Christ!

I know that the Book of Mormon is true.
I know that it is the Word of God, and that by reading it,
we can know our Savior and our Father in Heaven!

I will always be thankful for my mission.

Thank you for all of your support and prayers!
You have no idea how much they were felt!

I love you!
See you on Thursday!!!

Love, Sister Brinkerhoff

August 3: Crab...

Ummmm.....

WHAT?
I have 10 days left of my mission? I'm sorry, what?
I'M TELLING YOU. TIME IS NOT A REAL THING.

Alright, lets cut to the chase. MIRACLE TIME!
It was about 8:45 at night, we were biking around
talking with people. We came across this man,
James. He was standing at the bus stop..but wasn't
waiting for a bus. Erm..okay? haha. We talked to
him for a bit, he told us he had been Muslim for 15
years. We asked him what got him into that, and
why he has chosen to stay.He wasn't too sure. He told
us that he was having doubts about the Muslim faith.
(Doubts? Well don't mind if I just put my foot in the
door here and pry a little;)..)

I asked him what his doubts were. He told us that the
Muslims believe that Jesus Christ was a Prophet like
Abraham or Moses. But, that he believes that Christ is
the Son of God. He told us that his Muslim leaders keep
telling him to join a Christian Church. I then asked,
"James, if you could ask God one question, what would it be?"
He thought for a good minute, testing our comfort with
silence. When he finally said "I would ask him what He has
planned for me. And what's going to happen after this life.."
BOOM. Alma 40:11-12. I was stoked! I pulled the Book of
Mormon out and he said he actually had a copy, but didn't
know where it was. Sister Stolworthy explained to him what
the Book of Mormon is...that's it's ANOTHER Testament of
Jesus Christ. His eye brows raised. I read the scripture to him.
He kept leaning in closer and closer. He was feelin it!
When finished, we sat in silence for about 30 seconds. Just
marinating in the Spirit. I asked, "How did that answer your
question?" He said, "Well, Ma'am..let me tell you this..from
what I just heard, you'll be hearing from me!" He was so excited.
He wanted a copy of the Book of Mormon, we also marked
Alma 40 for him, and told him to read it. He was so excited!
We were so excited, too! We got his phone number and address.
We called him today, and he was so excited that it was us!
Unfortunately, he was at work, so he couldn't really talk.
So, we'll be calling him back! There are prepared people, every
where!

Update on Sarah.. We had to drop her :(  She wasn't willing
to meet at all this week... And she's really hard to get a hold of
lately...  We stopped by her apartment and she told us that she
would probably be getting evicted the next day :( We're praying
super hard for her!  We're hoping that we'll be able to get back
in with her soon!! She really is amazing!

Also, this week..it was our 6 month temple trip!!  It was amazing.
Sister Sheppard took us..which was so cool, because she was
wanting to go so she could do her Mom's work! We felt so privileged
to share that experience with her. She also bought us Cafe Rio...
so obviously, it was an amazing day ;) I get to go to the temple again,
too!  This friday! The temple will be closed from August 10-October 5
for cleaning and such things, which means all missionaries who are
returning with me get to go this Friday! They're going to feed us breakfast
and everything, and then pictures and lunch afterwards (: I'm so excited
to be in the Lord's house, again! (: (: (:

Also....on my 18 month mark (July 29th), I finally ate crab.
It. Was. So. Nasty. Never again!
I will be sending photos (:
No worries!
The 2 Sisters that took us were getting a kick out of us.
They recorded us and are going to make a video...hahaha.
I love you all!!
Have a great week!!!!

July 27: Dentistry and brownies. "You're the 8% who flosses."

Well..another week in the bag!

Guess what ya'll?

..................WE FOUND AN INVESTIGATOR!!

It is about stinkin' time!

Her name is Sarah. She is a single mom (divorced).
She has a 71/2 year old boy. We were in the Elder's
neighborhood contacting a potential. We pulled up
on our bikes across the parking lot, and I noticed
her staring us down. Obviously, we stand out, 2
white girls, in skirts, riding bikes.. So, my policy is..
if someone is going to stare, then they get to hear
about the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ (:

We de-helmet ourselves, and walk over to her.
She was walking her black lab puppy, Miracle.
We start talking to her, and she tells us that she
had a really good friend in college who was Mormon,
who left on his mission! She was excited to talk to us!
We talked to her for a good 30 minutes. She told us
to come back the next night. So..we did! She completely
unloaded all of her life story on us. She has had a really
rough life. She was so excited to learn more about how
our message could help her! We went over the next night,
again! We started to teach her about the Restoration,
but then she had questions about where we go after this
life. BOOMPLAN OF SALVATION.  She loved that
everyone gets another chance! (Spirit World) We told her
that we would talk more about the Plan of Salvation once
we talked more about how we know this to be true (Restoration).
She is SOLIDWe had an appointment with her last night,
but she was under the weather and on anti-biotics for an
infection she got in her finger. #gross haha. We're going back
this week. We will be inviting her to be baptized, and extending
a date! August 22 (:  We have faith that she will accept!

I'm excited to update you further on Sarah!

Funny story for the week..
Sister Stolworthy wrecked on her bike...again.
It's now a joke of how her bike is out to get her. hahaha.
Poor thing.

Welp.
Until next week..

Picture 1:This is when we had to climb up to the Elder's balcony
to protect our precious cargo. #gangster

Picture 2:I had to jimmy our water-heater closet open. We always
hear a small animal scurrying around in there, and we wanted to find
out what it was. Yes, I was using my Leatherman..thank you dad!

Picture 3: This is a turtle who has a death wish.

Picture 4: I had to get out and move him. Can't do that in Utah!
Would have gotten fined. hahaha

I love you tons!
Have a great week, and watch for miracles!
Love, Sister Brinkerhoff
